Susan Sontag

Susan Sontag fue una autora notable, filósofa y activista política. Nació como Susan Rosenblatt el 16 de enero de 1933 en la ciudad de Nueva York, hija de padres judíos de origen polaco y lituano. Después del divorcio de sus padres, se mudó con su madre a Tucson, Arizona, y más tarde asistió a la escuela secundaria en Los Ángeles. Sontag obtuvo su licenciatura en la Universidad de Chicago y realizó trabajos de posgrado en la Universidad de Harvard y en el St. Anne’s College, Oxford.

A lo largo de su carrera, Sontag produjo un extenso cuerpo de trabajo que incluye cuatro novelas, una colección de cuentos, varias obras de teatro y nueve obras de no ficción. Algunos de sus libros más notables son "The Benefactor", "Death Kit", "The Volcano Lover", "In America", "I, etcetera", "Against Interpretation", "On Photography", "Illness as Metaphor" y "Regarding the Pain of Others". Fue una firme defensora de escritores perseguidos e incarcerados y lideró varias campañas en su nombre.
