Susan Cooper es una reconocida autora de fantasía inglesa, galardonada principalmente por su serie "The Dark is Rising". Nació en Buckinghamshire, Inglaterra, en 1935 y desarrolló un amor por la lectura a temprana edad. Tras asistir a Oxford, se convirtió en la primera mujer en editar el periódico de la universidad. Posteriormente, Cooper trabajó como reportera y redactora de artículos para The Sunday Times de Londres, donde su primer jefe fue Ian Fleming.
La carrera de escritora de Cooper comenzó en respuesta a un concurso de una editorial, lo que resultó en su primer libro, "Over Sea, Under Stone".
