Stephen Greenblatt

Stephen Greenblatt es un reconocido autor e instructor estadounidense, conocido principalmente por sus contribuciones a la crítica y la teoría literarias. Nació en Boston, Massachusetts, el 7 de noviembre de 1943, pero se crio en la cercana Newton. Greenblatt obtuvo su Ph.D. en Yale y actualmente ocupa el cargo de Profesor Cogan de Literatura Inglesa y Americana y Lenguaje en la Universidad de Harvard. Además de su rol académico, se desempeña como Editor General de The Norton Anthology of English Literature.

Greenblatt es ampliamente considerado como uno de los fundadores del Nuevo Historialismo, un enfoque crítico que enfatiza los contextos culturales, políticos y sociales de las obras literarias. Él a menudo se refiere a este método como "poética cultural" y ha sido una influencia importante en el campo desde su introducción a principios de la década de 1980.
