Roald Dahl fue un autor británico muy aclamado, nacido en Gales en 1916 de padres noruegos. Fue educado en Repton y más tarde se alistó en la Real Fuerza Aérea (RAF) donde se convirtió en un as de la aviación. Después de un accidente y algunos fuertes dolores de cabeza, regresó a casa y comenzó su carrera como escritor.
