John R. Erickson es un autor estadounidense, más conocido por su popular serie de libros infantiles, Hank el Perro Cobarde. Con más de 9 millones de copias vendidas, la serie se ha convertido en un elemento básico querido en las bibliotecas escolares de todo el país. Ambientada en la Panhandle de Texas occidental, los libros ofrecen una vista única de la vida diaria en un rancho, tal como se ve a través de los ojos de Hank, el jefe de seguridad pícaro.
El pasado de Erickson como ex vaquero y gerente de rancho ha influido mucho en su escritura, aportando una autenticidad a las historias que resuena con los lectores. Hank el Cobarde hizo su debut por primera vez en las páginas de The Cattleman, una revista para adultos, antes de que Erickson decidiera autoeditar el primer libro de Hank el Cobarde en 1983.
