Don DeLillo

Don DeLillo es un reconocido autor estadounidense, famoso por sus novelas de ficción literaria que ofrecen representaciones detalladas de la vida americana a finales del siglo XX y principios del XXI. Ha recibido numerosos premios prestigiosos por su trabajo, incluyendo el National Book Award, el PEN/Faulkner Award y el American Book Award. DeLillo nació el 20 de noviembre de 1936 y pasó la mayor parte de su infancia en una familia católica y de clase trabajadora en Molise. Como niño, solía pasar el tiempo en la calle, haciéndose pasar por un presentador de radio que anunciaba partidos de béisbol. La afición de DeLillo por la escritura no se hizo evidente hasta su adolescencia y principios de los veinte años, cuando desarrolló una "edad de oro" personal de lectura. Esta nueva pasión por la literatura finalmente desembocó en su propia carrera como escritor. El primer trabajo de DeLillo tras finalizar la universidad fue como guardia de aparcacoches, donde desarrolló el hábito de leer durante su tiempo libre. A lo largo de su carrera, DeLillo ha escrito y publicado quince novelas, incluyendo "Zero K", "Underworld", "Falling Man", "White Noise" y "Libra". Su trabajo ha sido ampliamente reconocido por su excelencia, y ha recibido numerosos premios por sus contribuciones a la literatura. Además del National Book Award, el PEN/Faulkner Award y el American Book Award, DeLillo también ha recibido el Jerusalem Prize por su obra completa y la Medalla William Dean Howells de la American Academy of Arts and Letters. En 2010, recibió el PEN/Saul Bellow Prize, y en 2012, recibió el Carl Sandburg Literary Award por su obra completa. La novela más reciente de DeLillo, "Point Omega", fue publicada en 2010.
